FIRST POST
JUNE 5TH, 2009

Hey Guys,
After much ado, hopeless web developers and server issues – the site is finally up. The blog made its way online in a dramatic but somewhat fitting fashion – just hours before the launch party at Seven.
This first post comes a day late and not a moment too soon, but don’t think the shaky start is a sign of things to come. Last night In It For The Money favourites Soccer Mum DJs played to a packed room of adoring fans, with support from myself, Jordy183, Vincent La Posta and Justin Field and J.A.D.
Photos of the launch will be uploaded later this weekend for your perusal but for now let’s kick things off with one of my favourite songs of 2009, one that the crowd last night seemed to enjoy – Raindrops by Basement Jaxx.
Seeing Basement Jaxx perform live earlier this year was a real eye-opener for me, it was seeing them perform hits like ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ and ‘Bingo Bango’ as part of their eclectic, visceral live show that the power of popular dance music was made real to me. Sure, it’s fun hearing new songs and discovering new music, but it’s the universal hits that everyone can know and enjoy together that provide the real highlights on the dancefloor – and the very thing that is surely what dance music is all about -fun. It’s the same reason the Soccer Mums are such a joy live – they might not be the best ‘technical’ DJs in the world, but people have fun, they dance, and they enjoy themselves listening to songs that they know and love.
So here’s Raindrops, the first song of 2009 to present itself as destined for such status on the pantheon of dance, from two of it’s finest craftsmen – Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe aka Basement Jaxx. Their eagerly anticipated album ‘The Return of Basement Jaxx’ is due September.
